Robert Pattinson 'Little Ashes' Article - MarcMalkin

If Twilight weren't enough reason to love Rob Pattinson, now comes word about him going gay.
The British babe, who has become one of Hollywood's biggest rising stars because of his major role in the upcoming vampire movie, also has a part in a small, independent flick called Little Ashes as the late surrealist artist Salvador Dalí.
The movie centers on the time Dalí arrived in Madrid as an 18-year-old university student in 1922. It's in the Spanish capital that Dali first meets writer Federico García Lorca and filmmaker Luis Buñuel.
I'm told Pattinson shares a love scene with Javier Beltran, who plays Lorca, when their characters' relationship turns romantic in the waters of the seaside town of Cadaqués.
Little Ashes has already played at some European film festivals and is scheduled for release in the states March 27, 2009.
But what we really wanna know is, Is that a wig Pattinson's wearing, or did he actually find enough product to tame his signature unruly coif?

Back in October of 2007, when Robert Pattinson signed on to play Salvador Dali in Little Ashes, he was merely Cedric Diggory, the slain cutey from the Potter series. Now he's the vampire hottie of Twilight, and is gearing up to make all the young vamp lovers squee. But he's also going to show us a saucy side of Dali next year, and to the right you can get a glimpse of what that will be like, courtesy of EW. (And more over at MTV.)

Little Ashes focuses on the relationship between Dali and the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. Dali swore that Lorca's lust for him never became physical, but screenwriter Philippa Goslett's take on the relationship is much steamier, insisting that they did consummate the relationship in some way.There has got to be something in the water over at Hogwarts, or something in the air on the sets of darker teen fare. Rather than sticking with fluffy musicals or succumbing to celebrity, these guys are branching out and really challenging themselves. That's refreshing to see.

First Look: Robert Pattinson as Salvador Dalí in Little Ashes

As much as I hate mentioning Twilight, I can't go about covering this unless I do just that. Twilight star Robert Pattinson (who plays the "adorable" Edward) already has another performance entirely shot and in the can. The film, titled Little Ashes, is about the young life and loves of well-known artist Salvador Dalí, filmmaker Luis Buñuel and writer Federico García Lorca in Madrid during the 1920's. So that makes two different Dalí projects, given this isn't the other biopic starring Al Pacino and Cillian Murphy. Normally I'd pass up writing about this until I knew more, but I'm a fan of Dalí's art and am curious to know more about his life. With that said, MTV has debuted the first few photos from the film.
MTV explains that in the film, Pattinson (also seen in the photo above to the right) plays an 18-year-old Dalí who moves to Madrid where he begins experimenting with the cubist style that launched his young career. Dalí developed his eccentric fashion and the signature mustache during the early years that Little Ashes will portray. Seen in the photos along with him are Matthew McNulty as Luis Buñuel and Javier Beltran as Federico García Lorca. I can't say I know much more about it, but I'll be keeping my eye on it.

Little Ashes is directed by British filmmaker Paul Morrison, of Solomon & Gaenor and Wondrous Oblivion previously, with a script penned by first-time writer Philippa Goslett. The film first premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in the UK a few weeks back and is being distributed in the US by Regent Releasing. No official release date has been set for Little Ashes, but we can expect it to see it play in very limited theaters during the first-half of 2009.

Harry Potter actor Robert Pattinson recalls living in a "cool lttle ex-crack den" in London with best friend Tom Strurridge inthe October 2008 issue of Interview Magazine.

"We spent the better part of a year just getting drunk every night," Pattinsin admits. :I don't know if that counts as'struggling."

Pattinson has been dubbed "the next Jude Law" in the British press. "I don't really see the dimilarity," he says.

Pattinson stars next in Little Ashes, a Spanish drama and vampire thriller Twilight, based on the popular teen books, in which Pattinson plays Edward.

"It's funny," Pattinson says, "becaue teenage girls would say, 'Oh my God, you're Cedric!' It switched in a week to 'Oh, my God, it's Edward!' Allegiances change to freely in the teen-girl world." -
